Online Gambling News from Across Europe

The development of online gambling legislation in Germany continues to be eventful, and positive news comes from Sweden and Denmark.

The German state government of Schleswig-Holstein was boosted by a dramatic one vote victory for online gambling legislation last week. Following last year's EC-approved development of online legislation, the Social Democrat opposition attempted to bring in new legislation, failing by just one vote. The state government is now keen issue online gambling licenses before the state's April general election.

In Denmark, the Microgaming-powered Prima Networks has established its 34 online brands in the newly regulated online gambling market, accounting for 25% of the licenses issued thus far. In news from Sweden, responsible gambling solution PlayScan has been accredited by the ISO and the World Lottery Association, having met a series of strict WLA requirements. PlayScan was developed in 2007 by Swedish gaming monopoly Svenska Spel, ICU Intelligence and the Swedish Gaming Institute.
