Responsible Gaming Day Deemed a Success

Good attendance at the European Gaming and Betting Association's annual conference.

The EGBA's annual Responsible Gaming Day was held in Brussels on October 19. Among the many attendees were leading online gaming operators, regulators, Members of the European Parliament and national officials.

A highlight of the conference was a live demonstration of internet tools that will soon be available for the protection of vulnerable players. The demonstration was given by Tex Rees, a Fair Gaming Advocate with eCOGRA.

MEP Malcolm Harbour, Chairman of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection in the European Parliament attended the conference. He promoted the EU's consumer protection legislation and support structure.

Also in attendance was eCOGRA CEO, Andrew Beveridge. He stated that over 30 top European operators and software suppliers have been chosen to implement 134 research-supported steps, designed to protect players and encourage responsible operator behavior.

Finally, Bwin party's Responsible Gambling Manager Joachim Hauesler, stressed that gambling operators must define their responsible gaming strategies clearly and regularly assess their effectiveness.
